“Freedom and order are not incompatible... truth is strength... free discussion is the very life of truth.”
If this quote by Thomas Henry Huxley, an English biologist, does say anything, it reinforces the eminence of discussion as the very essence of democracy. We live in turbulent times and with progressive integration of Indian economy with that of the world, we have been in a race to keep up as a potential competitor and give tough times to its counterparts. In view of this, and, as has been amply discussed there has been a decoupling of economic progress from that at social front. Often the social aspects of the economy have been ignored or suffered insufficient attention. This calls for a proactive society and polity to take stock of performance of the bureaucracy. While discussions and debates promote and enable pin-pointing shortfalls in policy they result in solutions and proactive citizenry too.
While we as mere spectators of many historic events like the recent passage of Women’s Reservation Bill in Rajya Sabha and discussions on Civil Nuclear Agreement, we have opinions to express too, but the platform to voice ourselves is scarce. Thus we bring to you this quarterly e-newsletter which is a portal for and by the youth. We are pleased to introduce a new column “Express-a-way”, which will give you an opportunity to speak your mind.
We strongly believe that the youth is not only the future but also the present of the country. eCatalyst thus gives all the CCS graduates a platform to come together, share their views & inspiring stories. We invite you to be a part of the change process and stay connected.
We are glad to bring to you the latest issue of the eCatalyst and thank all the contributors for their valuable time and effort.
We encourage and value feedback and any comments/suggestions can be e-mailed to us at (ecatalyst@ccs.in).
In liberty!
